Temporary refugees

We've had a great adventure. You would never guess it looking at that face though would you?
Wednesday night there was a fire in our apartment complex - starting in the building connected to ours. The alarm went off around 11:30pm and by the time Ben and Mom were outside there were flames through the roof (of the neighboring building)and several fire trucks. There is video footage and some photos at this link:

Ben was a trooper. He only woke up when he was gotten up and was calm through it all. We watched the flashing lights and walked around. Ben feel back to sleep and we watched the firemen work while sitting under a tree. When the Red Cross got there, we were taken to the van where we met a nice lady who gave Ben a new friend.
Around 2am I was escorted into the apt to get some stuff for the night and the nice fireman with me wiped his feet on the way into our apt! The management company put us up in the Holiday Inn down the road for 2 nights. And after much running around and sitting in the rental office we were allowed to move back into our apt Friday night! It is amazing. We are so lucky to have been so fourtunate in this ordeal. We watched our across the hall neighbors moving out what they could tonight as we were starting to clean everything and settle back in. Boy is there a lot of laundry and dishes to wash! But we were certainly being looked out for. (Although the Spirit might be trying to tell us its time to move along.)

The next morning.

Our aptartment is the lower right.

Relaxing in Waterford Park after our very long and difficult week.

Tummy time and spit bubbles

This week we had some success with tummy time! Until now, Ben has been not having it. He still isn't what anyone could call a fan of it. But at least he tolerates it for a minute or two now and then.

Do you think we support the Phillies in this family?

And the newest trick - big ol' spit bubbles! Big ones. Sometimes aided by medicine, formula, or milk. Usually just plain spit.

Our week rounded out with a visit from NY Gramma and Grampa. We cruised downtown and the mall and learned a lesson about the importance of naps. Too much fun on Saturday meant really bad night of sleep for Mom and Dad too! :(
This coming week, Mom has the tap recital at the Visitation Academy, Dad has a soccer tournament, and Ben has another weight check.

Weight gain!

Check out my chub!

This week's installment begins with a trip to the doctor for Ben - weight check day was Thursday. He's up to almost 11 pounds!! That's a gain of almost 2 pounds in about a week and a half!!! He still has a lot of catching up to do but it's a major improvement. :) And thankfully we can back off on a little of the crazy diet they had us doing with him. (Mom couldn't take much more of those long late night feedings.)

Ben has also started talking to his toys. Loudly. And any day now we expect him to figure out that touching them is under his control. Except of course he can't actually reach the projection on the bedroom ceiling but he doesn't know that yet.

That's it for this week. We have to start remembering the camera when we go out so we'll have more pictures for you. So, see ya next time. :-)

smile!

Happy 3 month birthday, Ben!
We caught our first on camera smile today! Ben's been smiling for a while now, usually a great gummy grin that just lights up his whole face. But it would seem that the camera distracts him and he wont do it. So today we double teamed him and had success! :) You might also notice Ben's new "big boy seat" aka high chair, assembled yesterday, that let mom eat breakfast and wash dishes this morning. Brilliant idea that was!

Check me out, I'm tall!

Are you pondering what I'm pondering?
With love :-*
Welcome to our first blog! We created this silly piece of trendiness to keep in touch with all our family and friends better. Our plan is to post as many pictures as possible! (Which is becoming more and more possible the better Ben gets at sleeping on his own!) So enjoy and keep checking in on us!
